Version 4 (modified by David Robillard, 13 years ago) (diff)

Ingen (optionally) depends on:

  • Jack (mandatory)
  • Liblo (mandatory)
  • Boost (mandatory, but headers package (eg libboost-dev) only)
  • Alsa
  • Lash
  • Ladspa
  • DSSI
  • LV2
  • Raptor
  • Gtkmm
  • GnomeCanvasmm
  • LibGlademm

This page assumes you are running a Debian based distribution. If this is not the case, you will have to find the equivalent commands to the apt-get examples below.

Minimal requirements:

apt-get install libjack-dev liblo-dev libboost-dev

Recommended dependencies:

apt-get install liblash-dev libraptor-dev

GUI dependencies:

apt-get install libgtkmm-2.4-dev libgnomecanvasmm-2.6-dev libglademm-2.4-dev

Beware the --enable-pointer-debug configuration option. Unless you are developing/debugging something and really, really know exactly what you are doing, don't enable it. Especially don't enable it, then disable it again, or switch the value at all without completely rebuilding the entire tree. The errors are ugly and random. If you enable this option at any point in time, ever, do not ask me for help of any kind. Just don't enable it :)

Building from SVN

The easiest way to build Ingen from SVN is to build the entire lad repository (since there are dependencies between the various projects). Run these commands at a shell and everything should be built appropriately:

If you do not have svn do:

apt-get install subversion

Then to build:

svn co drobilla-lad
cd drobilla-lad
./waf --help
./waf configure --enable-whatever-options-you-want

sudo ./waf install

If you did the install step, the (graphical) programs should appear in your desktop's applications menu (or equivalent).
